Feeling Confident During the Summer

Before summer even begins we hear talk of diet culture and getting that perfect summer body, but this year EVOLVE wants to help you focus on self-love and acceptance instead! You are beautiful the way you are and don’t need to change just because the season is.  Feeling confident in your own body can be tricky but there are ways to increase your confidence everyday. Below we have listed some ways to help you step out with confidence during the summer time!

  1. Start your day by looking in the mirror and identifying five things that you love about yourself! This doesn’t necessarily need to be physical, it can be about any aspect of who you are. Adding this to your morning routine along with some mantras for self-love is a great way to bring positivity into your day!

  2. Put on an outfit that makes you feel amazing! Self-love comes from within, but wearing an outfit that gives you a confidence boost doesn’t hurt.   3. Try and identify the people and places that make you happy! This could mean a trip to your favorite thrift store, hanging out with friends, or even curled up on the couch with a good book. The idea is that you surround yourself with the environment and people who make you feel good about yourself!

  4. Eat foods that help you feel confident! Don’t limit yourself to eating things that will give you a “summer body” because that's not a thing. Remember that everyone gets bloated and feels insecure sometimes which is completely normal… you are not alone!

  5. Spend an entire day doing things for you! Making time for yourself is important when it comes to self-love because self-acceptance happens once you’re comfortable in your own skin.

Sometimes it can be hard to block out the intrusive negative thoughts we have about ourselves. The best thing to do when something negative passes through your mind is to remind yourself that all it is is a thought. You are beautiful and worthy of the space you take up! There will be good days when you feel amazing, but also bad ones and that is okay! Self-love is a rollercoaster, but choosing to love yourself at the end of it all will lead you to happiness.
