5 Ways to Combat Anxiety During the Holiday Hustle

Well Angels, a new month is *officially* here, which means new goals and new affirmations; however, with the holiday season quickly approaching, we want to take a minute to highlight five different ways you can combat anxiety during the holiday hustle to keep your head and heart clear!

From final exams, to overtime at work, buying gifts, and so much more, it can be hard to remember to take care of yourself! But remember Angels, it's SO important to fill your cup first in order to love on the people around you! So, that being said, let's get started! 

 

1. Set Boundaries

Full stop, we already know what you're thinking! "How am I supposed to hold boundaries during the holidays?! There is so much to do!" Well Angel, there certainly IS a lot to do, but setting boundaries with your time, space, and energy is crucial in order to avoid hitting the point of burn out. Our best advice? Say yes to two week night activities out of the house, and limit those outings to a two hour maximum. This will help you to maintain a healthy balance between taking care of yourself, creating your own traditions, and ensuring the interactions you DO have with others are full of love and laughter!

 

2. Get Enough Sleep

We know, it sounds so simple, but getting enough sleep each night is so important to creating a trusting relationship with your body, especially during the holidays! Make sure to create enough time in your schedule that you are getting at least 6-8 hours of sleep each night. Trust us, you'll thank yourself later!

 

3. Find Time to Have Fun 

There can be so many different pressures surrounding the holidays, like which house to spend time at first, budgets for gifts, and making friends and family happy, but it's important to remember to reflect on what the holidays are about in the first place. Be present, spend time around people who make you feel like you can be yourself, and find your inner kid again. Life is far too short to spend it worrying about the small things! Whether its having a snowball fight, building a gingerbread house, hosting a Friendsgiving, or playing some flag football in your backyard, you deserve to enjoy some fun!

 

4. Spend Time Outside

Although spending time outside will get a bit tougher for our Angels up north here soon, we highly recommend spending some time outside each day, even if it is just for a few minutes! Breathing in the fresh air can do wonders for your brain and body, and might just make you feel a little more grounded when you're experiencing times of heightened anxiety. Our favorite way to spend time outside? Cozying up by a fire with some fellow Angels, of course!

 

5. Move Your Body 

Last but not least, move your body! This can be anything from going on a walk, to dancing to a Youtube tutorial, and even yoga! Staying connected to your body is a great way to release anxiety during the holiday season. Plus, it's the best way to spend time doing something just for you. Remember Angel, you and your needs deserve to take up space!
